The Good Wealth

About Aryan Agarwal

I would rather be trusted for twenty years than busy for two.

I am Aryan Agarwal, an AMFI registered mutual fund distributor based in Agra. I started The Good Wealth because too many people I knew were either keeping everything in a savings account out of fear, or holding funds somebody sold them in a hurry that they could not name six months later.

Both of those are the same problem: nobody sat down and explained things without wanting something in return. So that is what I do. I sit down, I explain, and I say so honestly when the right answer is to do nothing at all.

What I believe about money

Four ideas I keep coming back to.

None of them are clever. All of them are hard to stick to, which is where having someone in your corner helps.

  • 01

    Boring is a feature

The portfolios that do well are usually the ones nobody touched. My job is often to talk you out of doing something, including out of things I could earn a commission on.

  • 02

    The floor before the ceiling

Emergency money, insurance, and the fees due next year come first. Only what is genuinely spare should go anywhere near equity.

  • 03

You should be able to explain it

If you cannot describe what you own to someone at home in two sentences, I have not done my job properly yet.

  • 04

Small and kept beats big and abandoned

A ₹1,000 SIP held for fifteen years quietly beats a ₹15,000 one that stops in March. Start where you can hold.

In Agra people still choose their doctor, their tailor and their accountant by asking a neighbour. I would like to earn my place on that list.

How we get started

Slowly, and with nothing signed until you are ready.

  1. 1

A conversation, with nothing to sign

We talk for half an hour, on a call or over tea if you are in Agra. What you earn, what you owe, what you are saving towards, what keeps you up at night. No forms yet.

  2. 2

    A written, simple plan

I come back with one page: how much to keep aside for emergencies, how much to invest, in what, and why. If something does not sit right with you, we change it before anything is bought.

  3. 3

We begin, then we keep in touch

KYC and the first investment take about a week. After that we review once a year, and any time your life changes. Between reviews you can call me with any question, however small.
